Sunningdale is situated about 2 miles from the busy seaside resort of Weymouth with its beautiful sandy beach (popularised by King George 3rd nearly 220 years ago), and the picturesque, bustling harbour.....

 

The waters of Weymouth Bay are widely recognised as one of the safest and cleanest locations in Europe for swimming and water sports, and we are only 600 metres from Overcombe beach noted for its excellent kite and windsurfing activities.......

Weymouth and Portland are soon to be hosting the sailing events for the 2012 Olympic games....

......and then there is the famous RSPB nature reserve and bird sanctuary at Lodmoor.

...now if you like coastal walks.... the Dorset section of the southwest coast path runs almost past our door! Go west towards the famous and yet mysterious Chesil beach or east towards the equally famous Lulworth Cove.

There is so much to see and do in the Weymouth area and the surrounding countryside. Most of South and East Dorset are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Dorset AONB) The Dorset coast (the Jurassic Coast) has long been recognized for its outstanding beauty and has now been awarded WORLD HERITAGE STATUS in recognition of the wonderful Geology that is there for all to see and enjoy. Weymouth Bay is renowned for the quality of the water, it is also very safe for children....

Sunningdale  was built in 1935 and was designed in the Mediterranean style.

The outdoor swimming pool has always been a popular extra attraction.....

The 'Flux family' have owned and successfully operated Sunningdale as a Hotel for over 40 years. However, we decided to 'downsize' a little to take things a bit easier!

We now offer accommodation for up to 6 people on a bed and breakfast basis and as always,
in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
